Net Control 2 by default will try to recognize addressing mode of your network automatically when it scans the network for new connections. For example, if the network uses DHCP server, Net Control 2 will create new connections using host name of found client computer, otherwise it will use IP address. In several cases automatic recognition of the addressing mode may fail (for example, if a client/administrator computer has several network adapters with different addressing modes).
If the addressing mode was detected incorrectly, some found connections may become unreachable. In this case you need to configure Net Control 2 for using host names instead of IP addresses:
- in Net Control 2 Administrator, click menu command N (main menu) -> Options -> Control Options. - on Connections tab, enable "Dynamic IPs. Create connections using network name" option.
- click OK in Options window.
- delete all connections from a workspace, pressing Ctrl+A key combination (to select all connections), then pressing Delete key (to delete connections).
- scan the network for new connections again, clicking Scan button on left toolbar.
If after scanning the network, new connections were found but still cannot be connected, and your network have a domain, in addition you may need to switch "Exclude domain suffix from network name" option:
- in Net Control 2 Administrator, click menu command N (main menu) -> Options -> Control Options.
- on Connections tab, switch (enable or disable) "Exclude domain suffix from network name" option.
- click OK.
- restart the program.
